Gail Recce’s Cream Cheese Cookies

Nicole was taught to make these, at 12 years old, when she was in Gail Recce’s Beehive class.

1 Cup shortening (not butter)
9 oz cream cheese
2 Cups sugar
2 egg yolks
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
3 Cups flour

Cream shortening, cheese and sugar. Add remaining ingredients. Roll into balls and press onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cookies are white when baked.
