Butter Nut Balls “Polvorones”
(Our family always expects these at every Posada.)
1 Cup butter
1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
½ cup finely chopped nuts
1/8 teaspoon salt
powdered sugar
Cream butter, powdered sugar and vanilla. Combine flour, nuts and salt and stir into butter mixture. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 – 25 minutes. Roll immediately in powdered sugar while still warm. Cool on wire racks. Makes 36 cookies
