Good Housekeeping APPLE FRITTERS

APPLE FRITTERS BATTER
1 cup flour

1 ½ teaspoon baking powder

3 Tablespoons powdered sugar

¾ teaspoon salt

1/3 cup milk

1 egg

Mix and sift dry ingredients. Combine milk and egg well beaten and add to dry ingredients, while beating constantly.

2 Granny Smith apples

Glaze recipe (powdered sugar and milk)

or powdered sugar

Optional: cinnamon

Peel and core 2 granny smith apples; cut in 8ths. Cut in slices and add to batter mixture. Drop by spoonful and fry over medium high flame in deep fat, for a few minutes, turn over to brown both sides. Drain on rack over paper towel lined cookie sheet (to catch the oil). Roll in powdered sugar, or pour glaze over it, while still hot. Could sprinkle with cinnamon sugar
