SHORTBREAD COOKIES
1 cup powdered sugar
2 cups of butter
3 cups of flour
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. You can also add a pinch of salt or a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough for extra flavor. Gradually add the flour, beating continuously until the dough comes together and feels velvety, about 5 minutes.
Roll out the dough to your desired thickness (about 1/4 inch). Don’t overwork the dough, as this can lead to tough cookies.
Cut into shapes using a cookie cutter.
Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each cookie.
Bake at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. If you want a crisper cookie, bake for 10 minutes. If you prefer a chewier cookie, bake for 7 minutes.
Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frost and decorate.
