MOIST TEXAS SHEET CAKE FROM CAKE MIX

3 eggs

¾ Cup sour cream

1 cup water

2 Tablespoons shortening

Chocolate Cake Mix

2 Tablespoons cocoa powder

 

Grease and flour 15x10x1-inch baking sheet.

Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl. Beat with electric mixer on low for 30 seconds, scrap edges of bowl. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes, scrape bowl. Mix another minute. Pour into middle of pan, scraping out all batter. Spread batter evenly to the corners of the pan.

Turn on oven to 350 degrees and place pan in the cold oven; allow to bake 22 minutes. Do not remove from pan. Place pan on rack to cool about an hour before frosting.

OPTIONS: Sprinkle with pecans, walnuts, or chocolate chips after frosting.

 

CHOCOLATE SHORTENING FROSTING
¼ Cup hot water
1 Tablespoon vanilla
8 Tablespoons butter-flavored shortening
8 Tablespoons cocoa powder
4 cups powdered sugar
additional water, as needed

 

Combine ingredients in mixing bowl and mix slowly with electric mixing, until fully incorporated, occasionally stopping to scrap bowl. Beat on high for 2 minutes, carefully adding any additional water as needed for desired consistency.
