Cut Out Sugar Cookies

1 1/2 cups butter

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

4 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

5 cups flour

Beat butter and sugar until fluffy, continue mixing while adding eggs, vanilla, salt and baking power. Carefully incorporate 5 cups flour, mixing on low setting or by hand. Chill dough for 2 hours, or overnight, wrapped in plastic wrap. Roll out dough to 1/4″ thickness. Place cut out cookies on a prepared baking sheet, or line with parchment paper. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 325.  (Makes 4 dozen cookies)
